Borroloola

Thursday 8 October: Daly River to Borroloola

Today was a 370km drive along the Carpentaria HWY into what is known as 'Gulf Country'. The single lane road took us through dusty & dry cattle stations into the remote fishing town of Borroloola, but not before exploring the Caranbirini Conservation Reserve. This 2km walk meandered through a spectacular lost city, made of ancient rock formations.

From here it was on to our camp on the banks of the McArthur River. There is a total of 950 residents in Borroloola, many of whom work in the zinc-lead mine.

The kids enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at camp, making friends with the local kids.
